ABOUT

Southpaw Baseball was started in 2012, by Mike Mullen, a former collegiate player with over 10+ year of high school and youth coaching, to give baseball players and coaches in the Boulder County area an opportunity to get high level instruction in all areas of the game including pitching, hitting, fielding, throwing and arm/body conditioning.

In 2013 Southpaw Baseball started it’s first competitive tournament team called the Blues.  It turned out to be a very successful campaign to which he led  a 11U team to the Denver Super NIT championship and the top points rating for the USSSA 11U AA divison. Mike in recent years has also coached the KTB 12U program and was a Major’s coach and the All Star team for SBLL the past three years with State Championship game appearances in 2010 and 2012. Mike has served as a member of the SBLL Board of Directors and is active in helping to provide constant improvements to the South Boulder baseball fields.

Mike Mullen is also a Certified Athletic Trainer (sports medicine) who has worked with BCSM for  local area high schools and youth sports teams, helping to keep young athletes healthy and safe. In 2010 he led a clinic on “The Throwing Athlete: Injury Prevention, Proper Mechanics and Exercise” with over 200 players/parents in attendance.

“My goal for your athlete is to teach them proper mechanics that will not only increase their chances to be a successful ballplayer but will introduce them to tips and techniques for life-long overall fitness and injury prevention.”

Mike is available for coaching in all areas of baseball including: pitching and throwing, hitting, fielding, and conditioning. Each lesson plan is customized to be age appropriate and to meet the needs of the athlete.
